212 CID HP

I can say that in 1937 the engine put out 101 hp with the dual throat carb, and about 97 with the single throat carb. I would imagine it was the same in 1939. With the optional high compression head it would have been higher than 101.0

Thanks Jon I don't know that it has a high compression head but it did come stock with a 2 Barrel carb. So 101 is most likely correct for 39 as well.0

According to the Hudson Mechanical Procedure Manual, 1934 to 1939, Inclusive - the power of the 212 cu in six with the dual downdraft carb is 101 HP. However, you need to make sure that it is a 212 cu in engine, and not the 175 cu in engine.
- The 175 engine put out 86 HP, and it was installed in the 'Hudson 112', (single, downdraft 11/4" carb);
- Also, Hudson Business Cars had a version of the 212 (which had a single 1 1/4" downdraft carb) and put out 96 HP;
The other Hudson sixes all had the 212, and dual downdraft 1" carbs, putting out the 101 HP referenced at the beginning of my post.
Understand that a 'quick' HP upgrade on any 175 or 212 (single downdraft carb) was to change the intake manifold & carb to the dual downdraft type. Easy to do (at least at the time), since the engines all had the same block.
I did not see any reference in the specifications area of the manual on any high compression head.

The 1937 Model 72 Terraplane with the twin-throat 2x1" carb was quoted at 107hp @ 4,000 rpm with the 7.0:1 Super Powerdome head and 101hp @ 4,000 rpm with the standard 6.25:1 head. This is the 212 motor.0

Mine is the 212 with the 2bbl carb. 4:11 rear end I believe. Thanks to all who have replied.0
