Inhibitor
Hi, I am servicing my fathers 1928 Essesx Super Six (2 door coach) and wondered if once I flush the cooling system if I should put an inhibitor in.
I live in the North of the North Island of New Zealand and really only require it as an inhibitor . If a remember its normally 1/3 - 1/2 inhibitor to water. Also should I run a flush?
It hasn't been moving for a year and a 1/2 and will change the the oils (Penrite) and top up clutch (not stuck) etc.
Regards,
Rob.

May I suggest you clean out the system and replace it with water mixed with solvable oil ( oil used to cool metal when using a cutting blade) Just mix a bit of the oil in water to make a "milk" looking water - will stop rust - just don't add too much as it will eat the rubber hose and cause too much sludge -it's been in my Hudson since been rebuilt by the previous owner back in the early 1980's
with no problem cheers Ken0 -
An alternative, which I use in my own Essex is a small bottle of "Tectalloy" rust inhibitor, which is green and keeps the water completely pure. Must be changed each two years though. Can be obtained at Repco shops.
