Location of engine number on 1942 6 cyl engine

I had a mechanic call me the other day wanting to where to find the engine number.
I told him that I thought it was on the engine water jacket side, top right towards the back of the block.
He said he could not find it?

Are there any other locations on the block where the engine number may have been stamped?

The engine number is stamped on top of the block on the manifold side in the front.
