Dana Rear End Carrier Series Swap

Hello: Does anyone out there know if you can swap a 4:09 or 4:55 series carrier into a Dana in place of a 3:07? If so, what else needs swapped such as axles, etc.? This 53 Hornet car had a 2 lever OD originally. Thanks. bjgund

I'm pretty sure you can build what ever ratio you want into this rear from today's parts shelves.0

The rear end pops right in Bob. Dana swaps with Dana and Hudson swaps with Hudson. Pull the axles and have at it. Ratios don't cause any problems0

I had a 54 Hornet with overdrive and a 4:55 axle. First gear was too low for me. The car was hardly moving when it was time to shift to second gear. If I'd have kept the car I would have found a 4:09 carrier to put in it.
This was on fairly level ground near sea level. If you are in high altitude mountains, the 4:55 could be best!

Thanks guys. I have a 4:55 on its way. Nothing ventured nothing gained and nothing trumps a "try" but a failure.0
