Hi all, need some help. These number are on the head of a 1950 Hudson Commodore Six, 30366-1-a, and 5029988-1 on the block. No 232, or 262 number embossed on the head. Can anyone tell me if this is a 232 or 262 motor that they used in 1950, or if it's correct for the year?
 Thanks in advance.
Gene.

If the serial # on the front of the block matches the tag on drivers door post then it is a 262.  The 262's also originally had a 2 bbl. carb/intake.  The block casting #  (hidden by the distributor) is the same for both engines.  Differences are length of crankshaft stroke
    and piston pin height.
The 1948-1950 engines were referred to as the narrow block. and did not have the cu in cast on the front of the head.
