Hudson's in the outback
I thought I'd share these photos that I took of a collection of cars back in about 1987 or 88 in the Australian outback.

Thanks for sharing, someone did a lot of hunting and gathering there.0

Only in Australia! Unbelievable! I wonder where they all are now?0

From memory the collection of Essex in a row belong to a bloke who collected Hudson - Essex with his brother back in the 1950's/60s- he had a large farm around Ballarat in central Victoria - I remember reading an article from a newspaper - just can not remember but I'm sure a Victorian HET older member would recall. Cheers Ken0

This collection Belonged to a guy by the name of Wilson over in South Australia, he collected most of it up during the 70's & 80's then sold it all off in the early to mid 90's. I still know about some of the 29 stuff but where the rest of it went is a bit of a mystery. He also had a restored 29 seven passenger sedan that now belongs to a friend of mine, there was also heaps & heaps of parts, a whole shed full of wire wheels, another full of engines, it was all pretty impressive!0

The car closest to the camera here is the 7 passenger that he had.0

There is a restored 1930 Hudson 8 roadster in New Zealand, I wonder if it's the same one, how many of those still exist??0
-
The N.Z. one belongs to a local millionaire who has no real interest in the fact that it is a Hudson, unfortunately, and it resides permanently in a museum. Nice line up of '29's, but I'm personally not a fan of white-walls on these models.0

Yes the guy who owns those loves his white walls! I don't mind them but I think black walls are underrated. Do you know anything of the history on the N.Z. '30 Geoff, has it always been a N.Z. car or could it have come across from Australia in the early '90s?0

The N.Z. on started life as a sun sedan apparently, converted to a sedan with local built body, then smashed in an accident, and rebuilt (not very well) as a roadster.0
-
Okay, that rules that out as the ex Wilson 30 Roadster then! Thanks for the info Geoff. Possibly some of the stuff went to the U.S.A0
-
A lot of that went to a bloke just outside Rockhampton in Queensland.0
-
Correct Spencer, he only got '29 stuff though, the 1930 cars & the early stuff had already gone by the time he came along.0
