running board attachment

how do you attach the running board bracket to the running board itself.  They are a small "u" shaped item that has two holes in each of them and there are six on each side. Bolts, rivets or weld ?

    The head of the bolt slides into the u slot.

    What I'm after is, how to attach those little slotted brackets to the running board itself. Is there a special type of rivet that is flush with the top of the board ? My super six did not have running boards at time of purchase, so I'm in the dark.

    I just looked at my 17 Super Six and the brackets are spot welded onto the metal running board. Does this help?
