Coil wiring
Heres an interesting one...
I am going to install a Pertronix in my 36 T and I figured I would go with one of their 6 volt coils as well.
I got the coil and before I switched out the points I wanted to make sure it was OK so I hooked it up.
It started right up. Then I realized I had hooked the positive side to the ignition switch and I thought oops that's not
correct for positive ground. So I switched up the wires and put the positive side to the points.
It started right up!
What gives? Does it make a difference?
Thanks,
Jeff

Not a significant difference immediately, but will also reverse the polarity of the spark, and you could get misfiring when hot. It cuts the efficiency about 15%. And I would not run the new coil too long either, as it will likely burn out the points.0
