Is it synchronized in the forward gears?
Forgive my "ig-nunce", all this pre-war automotive stuff is new to me. Thanks.

No,shift briskly and swiftly.0

Briskly, from 1 to 2.
Leisurely, from 2 to 3.
Double-clutch for downshift.

We'll that certainly takes a measure of technique and finesse but I went up and down a few times during my ride across town. Too bad it doesn't work like the 9 & 13 speed transmissions in the big trucks I've used.0

I could have ordered an automatic at some point, not sure when they started offering them.0

Not a true automatic as you would find today. But you could get the electric hand option and for a bit more money the automatic clutch. ...... and how many are around and working today......not many.
