Dan, Not only the Tatra T 87 but also the Citroen Traction Avant was an influence.. Spring had several of these cars purchased and brought back to Detroit prior to WW2 for study . Had them hidden in the top floors of the Engineering section. The actual stepdown design was about complete by 1943.0
