Greetings from a new member.
Hello all,
My name is Tim Stonger and I hail from northern Indiana in a farming community just north of Warsaw. I am a recently retired Financial Adviser. I grew up in the muscle car era and spent many evenings and weekends in my high school years cruising Peru Indiana which was the nearest town to where I was raised. We didn’t text our friends in those days we went to town to see them. We worked and spent all our money on our cars, except for a little money to take a girl on a date. My interest in cars developed over the years and recently I purchased a 1928 Hudson Super Six, Series O, Victoria, from the Eldon and Esta Hostetler collection. I watched that collection grow over the years and I know two of Eldon’s sons. I wanted a piece of local history. I am very excited about this car, and am learning allot about it. It is the first pre-war car I have owned so there is much I don’t know and I hope this club and this forum can help me. I would love to bring it to next years shows and national event.
For now I need to get her running. It will be a treat to take my wife and go for a cruise in such an amazing car. I look forward to meeting you all over time.
Thank you,
Tim

Great to hear from someone who purchased one of Eldon's cars. I hope you will indeed get it out and about for others to see! I would suggest that (if you haven't done so already) you join the national Hudson clubhttps://hetclub.org/ and then join one of the two Indiana chapters (see list of contact people here: https://hetclub.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=514) Then you can meet some fellow enthusiasts at nearby meets and, through them, learn of specialists in and out of the Club who can give you good advice, help you, and provide services as well.
For now, I suggest you present your questions here, since we have a large number of forum members with a lot of technical knowledge about all Hudsons, even the old ones like you have.0 -
Congratulations on a great car, and welcome to the Hudson world. Like Ken has said, I would start with cleaning out the fuel system. Change the oil and new battery. Keep us posted with results and pictures, we love pics.0

Oh-- and don't be too alarmed if the clutch sticks. This is prone to happen on Hudsons that have sat unused for some time. We will have suggestions, should this happen.0

Welcome Tim, I purchased the 1915 from the Auction (which just got delivered yesterday) (yes, it has been a month). Don't get in a hurry to bring the car out of its long sleep. Do the simple things first such as check all the fluids and maybe put a little oil down the cylinders through the plug holes. Gently turn the engine over a few times by hand just to be sure every thing is good before you get crazy with the starter. I would then disconnect the coil and connect a battery and check the electrical and starter. If everything works there go on to the next system and check everything to be sure it works. Yes, the clutch will be stuck, Yes, the carb will leak, Yes, the cooling system will weep. Just go through it one step at a time. Once all this is done and you know the starter works and you can generate some oil pressure or at least oil drops from the oil pressure line. Connect the coil again and give it a try.
Take you time, you got a great car, it will come back to life. The more you check and prep the less likely you will have a problem at startup that will cause you bigger problems. This is a great group of folks who know Hudsons use them as much as you can.
I start my adventure tomorrow with the 15.
