WDO carb butterfly screws

A few days ago while driving my 48 Super-Six, I had the misfortune to lose one of the butterfly plates from my carburetor inside of the motor. Both the screw heads had broken off. I managed to retrieve the little plate, but I am not able to find any replacement screws to re-attach the plate to the shaft.
I find this odd because the manual recommends always using new screws during any rebuild. I would have thought that carb rebuild kits would include these little screws. I believe the screw size is 3/48 and the screws are brass with a length of about 3/16" (although longer can be cut to size). Can anyone tell me where to purchase these little brass screws? Thanks for any replies!

  • Hi Ken. Thanks for the advice. Yes the carb was rebuilt before I got the car but that's all I know. The compression remains between 100 and 107 lbs but I think I'll pull the head and have a look anyway. I was not aware of the extra length being peened over (good idea). The one screw I was able to get out (without breaking) was 3/16 in length, so 1/4 should do nicely. I tried the Fastenal store today but they were somewhat less than helpful because I do not have a business. (Wholesale only) I will check out the website. I will make sure the plates are well centered when I reassemble. If they were out a bit, it will mean making some adjustments as the original was probably not able to fully close. Thanks again!
