I have a question for the overdrive guru's. It calls for 3 1/4 lbs of lubricant. Is that total for the trans and overdrive? Are they separate units?, and what does 3 1/4 lbs. translate in liquid? Thanks in advance.

Not sure exactly, but they are interconnected units. The drill is to fill them up until the oil runs out the hole. Probably around three pints total, but you can't actually over-fill them without oil running all over the place.0

I had the same question a few months back. Manual calls for 3-1/4 lbs with overdrive. Few folks today knows what a "pound" is but one pound of gear oil is about one pint. A Pint is 1/2 of a quart, so the manual is correct at 3-1/4 pounds (1.66 Quarts). As Geoff says, the overdrive unit must be filled separately so there are two plugs to fill on the pass side of trannie.0
