my very old Motors manual says 40 ft lbs0

Paraphrasing from the 34 to 39 Mechanical Procedure Manual, go around the bolts in sequence and pull them down "just snug". Then go around in sequence again and pull them down "fairly tight".
To be more helpful, 40 ft lb is the general recommendation for a 7/16" grade 5 stud.0 -
