I really don't know what engine I'm going to use for the project. The car comes with a 232, I have access to a complete alloy head, twin H driveline, and then there's this straight 8 in the area. It will be one of the three. The really wild version would be the 232. The short stroke , big valve potential makes for an engine which can support boost.

Google "1935 Hudson 8 Special Story" for a 7:35 you tube video on Frank Kleinig's race car. It includes shots of the engine and headers, and the beautiful sound of it accelerating from a stop. It is Hudson porn to me. Enjoy!0

The main reason it went down the other side, I think, was to avoid the steering box, as it is right hand drive.0

Ivan’s Hudson 8 engine, at least his 1st build in 1999, achieved on the engine dyno 165 BHP @4500 RPM and 250 FT/LBS @ 2500RPM as I was told.
I love the idea of taking an old straight 8 & taking it to its maximum potential, if for no other reason than to show the Buick, Packard, etc straight 8 guys that Hudson had it going on too! Then.... I’d want to venture onto Bonneville Salt Flats for the fun of it!
Hummm, maybe I have a use for my 37 Hudson 4dr sedan after all, it already has the 8 cylinder in it! I would just need to find a way to make it into a 2 door & chop the top 3” for the coolness factor. Unless someone has a 2 door they want to donate to the project? Maybe just the 2 doors is the main thing I would need?
