Old hat to most of you fellas, but I was quite pleased with how easy that was...
$7 worth of 6" furnace duct will do both.

Thanks for posting! Much better than ones I have seen coated with bondo.

So, suggestions on color? I have a later '56 block which worked out since I have late-style air cleaners. Since my engine is painted red I was thinking a contrasting color would be good. Hudson Gold? Chassis Black? Something else?0

Be sure to use epoxy primer over the galvanized metal, then paint. If you are staying with red "eek" motor, gloss black would be a better contrast then the gold.0

Thanks for posting GrimGreaser. I know have a small project for one I have sitting in storage. I heard it was easy, but I have never seen one taken apart before. Did you spot weld to the ends and mounting nut to the new duct?

The ends fit so snugly, I'm just using epoxy to secure them. Spot welding or solder would probably work as well. I used a 1/4-20 riv-nut for mount.0

Thanks for the update Grim. A riv-nut is definitely the best way for that.

Black always sets of the engine nicely.0
