One last head gasket question.

This is perhaps nothing to worry about, but when applying the thread sealer to the threads of the head bolts, should you cover all the threads or half (I figured cover them all, but not too sure if this will later effect torque readings)? I cleaned the head and block surface on the 262 and am now ready to Copper Coat the NOS Felpro head gasket with a couple of coats and then torque it down.

The head is about 2" thick. I check the length of the bolts, and coat the amount of thread that goes into the block.0

Ha! I should have thought about that. Why coat the threads that aren't going to the block? Thanks!0

I only coat the first half of the threads that go into the block....

Thanks "squirrel" for your advice. I pretty much did that with the thread sealant and the new old stock head gasket is now in place, torqued down, engine run for about a half hour, re-torqued and so far, so good....no leaks.0
