46/47 Truck Taillight

Does anyone have a picture of (or info on) the original taillights on a 46/47 Hudson pickup? One of my trucks doesn’t have any. The other has two different lights. I just purchased another one from a lot of Hudson pickup parts and it doesn’t match either of the other two.

Blaine, I sent you to the source of a beautiful repro. $ 48.00 is rather inexpensive for a correct looking tail light. Chances of finding an original in usable condition are slim and none. I've been looking for more than 50 years. Thanks to the Jeep guys, we now have a source.0

Thanks Ric. Here’s the current link for anyone else that’s interested... https://walcks4wd.com/left-naco-tail-light-original-style-1945-49.html0

One more question... how many of these lights did the pickup have? My 46 has 3 holes and my 47 has one hole.0

Not sure what I have in the following : Red lensThree and a half diameter 2 holes for attachment. Part number 144735 in a yellow Hudson box - however I have a bezel also marked for pick-up and the lens is too big - diameter on bezel appears 3 and 1/4. Perhaps I have one correct and the other wrong. No part number on bezel. May attempt photos but not good at it. Let me know what you think I have. Gert Kristiansen0

When I rebuilt my truck, I used tail lights that I purchased at a farm supply store. When they are back in the hole you can't see much of them. I switched the bulb to 6 volt. They where about $15.000

Mine had 3 holes 2 for the bolts and 1 for the wires.0

From what I can tell the Pickup was only supposed to have 1 taillight... and no rear bumper. Seems like all the trucks I see have 2 taillights and a rear bumper.0

1 light on the drivers side is original. I think, as I did, they put 2 on for turn signals and safety. You can put a turn signal switch off of a 50- 54 Hudson into the column and it looks original. Works great. I can send you pictures of all this on mine if it would help.0

I sent you a pm. And pictures to your email. Hope it helps.0

These old listings have some pretty good photos of mostly original trucks, including the original tail light setup.

Here is my solution although not strictly original with a ford model a taillight and leds in the bed rolls for driving lights and turn signals0

I’m not sure if my taillight is original ( I think so, but not positive ). Here is what it looks like. The under side of the taillight body incorporates a lens to illuminate the license plate
I fabricated brackets and hung old school Signal-Stat truck arrow turn signals
