Antique Mufflers
bent metal

Interesting project. These mufflers are for "around" 1910 to 1927 in the torpedo shape. The pill capsule shape is "around" 1928 to 1932 ish. If anyone knows for sure, I would like to be educated on the specific applications and dates used. These mufflers are hard to find in any condition. But I happened to get ahold of both, in good condition.

Then time for the dissection. I was interested to see how they made it.

This may be a dumb question, but, are you going to duplicate them?0

Drawings were made and parts were remade in 16ga. The customer decided to have two done just like original. Then make more with additional air flow, including two each matching the area of the exhaust pipe itself, but maintaining the inner and outer design. It should be fun to see what difference this will all make in performance as well as the sound of the exhaust.

The capsule shape fits 1929 Essex for sure. Some one has been duplicating it as it has been available on ebay.
