Do the "dog bowl" style hub caps attach to the inside of the wheel or over the bumps on the out side of the wheel center?  I am thinking of using 16" 'smoothie' aftermarket wheels for my 47 pickup.  As I have jaguar suspension it has the same bolt pattern dimensions as Chevrolet.  Therefore I think I wilI need to have clips if inside the wheel.  Photos of the front and back of a hubcap would be nice also.  Thanks for the info

More questions.  Are these chrome or stainless?  Would stepdowns also work?  Thanx again

clips on inside. I have crown vic wheels on my 57 and can't use the caps. 48 Chevy wheels with clips work for Chevy bolt pattern though. I can take photos in a bit for ya.

The hubcap itself has a chrome plated skin over a steel base.

It fits over five clips on the original wheel.

Any of the small hubcaps, any year in stainless?  Looks like the clips will work if the inside diameter is the same for the smoothie wheels.

Thanks for the photos.  That is the look I was thinking about with small cap and trim ring.  Looks good
