Fuel tank pickup tube filter screen

Hi everybody!  I recently had a problem caused by a blockage in my fuel pickup tube.  I removed the tube and cleaned out the blockage, but before I reinstall the tube I would like to install a filter screen. 

I ordered a screen online but the collar diameter is about .87 inches, which is much too big to fit through the access hole on the tank, which is about 1/2 inch in diameter.  Does anyone know where I could get a filter screen that would fit through the hole?

Try places that sell paint spray guns. Those quart screw on canisters used to use those .
