Power dome Head

If the cylinder head says '262,' then it is a wide-block head. This means it will fit your 308 (all of which are wide-blocks). Others will point out that it mustn't be milled too thin or you spark plugs will ground out (along with other issues). For comparison's sake, my friend had a narrow-block 262 in his 1949 Hudson and I have a wide-block 262 in my 1951 Hudson. He increased his compression by putting a '500' cylinder head on his car. '500' was the model of the pacemaker in 1950 that came with the 232 and the only year of the narrow block 232. If I were to follow suit, I would need a '232' labelled head from a 1951 or later engine. The take-home from this is that 1951 and later (all wide blocks) put the displacement on the cylinder head (narrow blocks did not).0
