Leaky studs

My 42 Hudson flat 6 is leaking coolant around the head studs as well as the side cover bolts. Any tips? My plan it to remove each one, one at a time and add sealer to the threads. Also the starter cranks the engine very slow. All this work is being done at a garage and not my place. So I don’t have much info on the starter. It is a 6 volt system.

Thanks guys

  • I'll bypass the leakage problem and go to the slow starting problem. One reason for slow starting is faulty electrical connections. Does the car have the correct gauge battery cable for 6 volts (much larger than a 12 volt one)? Are all the connections clean? Is the engine grounded to the body, as well as being grounded to the battery (in other words, does the car have two ground straps)? The of course, is the battery in good shape?
