paint code???
For future reference... is there a way to know the original paint code on my 53 Hornet? Is there a body code tag like later cars? Wanna get the correct color when it's time to paint (and then completely change it by making it pearl) I can find the paint chips online but i dont know the proper code for the car.

Most generally, Hudson would place a numerical stamp on the upper passenger side door hinge to indicater the paint code. This is not a hard and fast rule as I have seen plenty of hinges with no stampings at all. Dual tone paint jobs had several numbers to indicate the color scheme. For example in 1953 the number 141 on the hinge indicated that this car was painted Black-lower Honey Cream-upper. Alex Burr{Hudsontech} has all the info on single color as well as dual color combos on stepdowns. If you can't find your stamped number on the hinge then just look at an area where the paint has been protected or oversprayed and you could match up that shade to a color available for the 53 model year. When Nash took over Hudson ,the vin codes were then including paint and trim info but in your case it's a bit tougher to find since they were not stamped on the tag.0
