Motor mounts
I was told by the previous owner that I had a broken trans mount that he had chained, but after attending my first Hudson meet on Saturday apparently both my motor mounts went which we noticed when I was showing it off. We got the engine back into place and tied it down so I could get it home. I thought I read somewhere that AMC mounts were the same. Is this true. I want to find them locally if possible and fix it quick.
Thanks,
Thanks,

It might be helpful to know what year Hudson you have.
K-Gap carries certain motor mounts, and other Hudson vendors may, as well.

Whoops, 54 Hornet. I think I have seen them where they can be ordered, just thought I read somewhere that they were the same as some later AMC vehicles and if that is the case I can get them locally and get it fixed quicker and most likely cheaper.0

I have an old (1999) K-Gap catalog which lists 1933-54 trans. mounts (manual shift) part # 552. Hydramatic, '51-54 or Borg-Warner automatic 53-4, #154.
As to the motor mounts, they listed 48-54 (except Jet), part number 151.
As to current price and availability you had better contact K-Gap: Xkgaphet@aol.com (delete the "X" before sending).0 -
Don't know how "quick" you want them, but Ken Amman stocks them and can send them probably next day.

If I have to order them, then K-Gap will probably be the quickest because they are here in CA. I could swear I saw somewhere they were the same as a later model AMC and in that case I could pick them up locally.0

I bought two of the AMC mounts a couple weeks ago. They are square instead of round, but work fine. They cost less than ten dollars for the pair. I got the numbers from Ken Cates' site. I got them from NAPA Auto Parts. It was interesting that for the Pacer they were one price and for the Javalin a much higher price, but the part number was the same ;-).0

I thought I saw it on Ken's site too, but I can't find it this morning. Did you do anything for the rear?0

Hi There,
The Napa # on Ken's site is an MM-2280. It appears to be from their old number system but they should be able to cross it over to the new numbering system or reference it as to fitting Rambler Ambassador, AMC Hornet, Javelin or Gremlin. I got my rear mount for my 3spd OD from Lester Harris but it was his last one. I have seen several listed on EBAY (under the Buy It Now section at the end of the regular listings)and with the Fine Hudson parts retailers who frequent this site.

Just buy them from KGap, support your club members! The quality is excellent, the price reasonable, and the service great.

The Amc mounts are probably the better part to use because they have an interlock like modern engine mounts, therefore the motor can't move forward into the radiator0

My parts buddy got me the AMC mounts in, when I get back to town, I'll pick them up. About eight bucks a piece so you can't beat that. Have to hold a bit on the trans mount, the way K-Gap prices there shipping, you get a real good deal if you have a big order, but for one or two parts it is pretty high. I have their catalog now, so I will have to see what else they carry that I would need and put a bigger order together.0

You did see it somewhere:
I sent you an e mail about a week ago about this. In that e mail I mentioned the AMC mounts and referred to Dave Sallon or Ken K. and left it at that. I since looked up the numbers, but I see someone has offered the correct number already . Like I said in my "E" mail, "$50 bucks for the K gap ones and $10 for the AMC ones. Not much has changed. I prefer the napa ones because of the engine stop for front end accidents to keep the fan out of the radiator. Have fun. You will need nuts with the AMC ones too. Don't forget. And ask for the Pacer ones not the Gremlin the price is different in most cases but the part is the same0 -
Anyone have a picture of what this AMC or NAPA mount looks like?0

Picture "Normal-Millerspring 308.jpg" has these mounts.0 -
I run the AMC motor mounts too..I found that I was ripping the stud through the rubber on one side of the engine with the old hudson mounts, but that doesn't seem to happen with the AMC mounts. But that's not the only AMC parts on my car- I am also running a heavy duty sway bar from an old gremlin with a V8. It is larger in diameter than the factory Hudson sway bar.0
-
Wow a sway bar from a Gremlin V8 will fit a stepdown. Now that I would have never guessed. Of course I wouldn't know where to begin to find one of those. They have to be as rare as a Hudson itself. I did put Polyurethane end links and support on the bar I have which helped quite a bit, especially since my rubber ones were mostly rotted away. They were off the shelf pieces from Energy Suspension.0

When I went to NAPA Kens old # MM-2280 converts to 6021162 which looks right as it has a single bolt while the 6021182 has two bolts so can't be right.

51hornetA,
I did the same thing and the 1182 were nowhere close while the 1162 have the correct mounting holes and the single stud, only square with a stop and only six dollars and change.
