1954 Wasp Forsale
This looks like a nice solid, unmolested car. Probably get it pretty reasonable. Niels

Hi Hudsonites,
Spoke to the retired gentleman that owns the Wasp. It is basically an unmolested original, rust free that has been stored inside for the last 19 years. Excellent interior with floor mats (excellent condition), all original except for the front seat that was recovered. Dash is spotless all electrical items work. Includes original window washer. All glass is good excepting two flat side glasses with small cracks, no bubbling or delamination. Engine spun when parked no freezing only varnish and he is putting Marvel Mystery oil in cylinders. Sounded to good to pass on so I didn't.

rustjunkey - I take it you scored on this one?
That looks like a great buy - I can't wait to see some better pictures!
And harry54 couldn't have said it any better - this one was even rare in the fact that it was so close to where I live - there doesn't seem to be a lot of Hudsons for sale in this area compared to others anyway.0 -
Hey Dan,
This Wasp is in Hayden, Idaho eight miles north of Couer d'Alene, how close are you to it? Maybe you can check it out prior to transport if you are close enough and it's not an imposition. I am either going to have a friend who drives a 11 car hauler pick it up or I will truck on up from Tahoe with a dollie. He is sending my more pictures tonight I will try to post them.

Congrats Rust junkey. I'm jealous. Good luck.0

Thanks, Harry. I haven't received the additional pictures but I'll post when received.

Rick,
I like it. It has true character and potential. Keep me posted once you get it and it progresses.

Dan and Rambo,
Oh well! This car is full of suprises. It has a 262 cid engine with Carter 2 bbl carb, vacuum assist on the fuel pump, radio has automatic on the front and is located below the dash in front of the heater. Radio works well. Stainless trim is PERFECT except for one, yes one small ding (size of a small pea) on passengerside, front bumper and guards are perfect, rear bumper and guards are perfect excepting light surface rust. Dash and guages are also perfect, speedometer reads 20,376 (most probably 120,376). Side script reads Wasp, Serial number is worn reads _D4295670 worn by door closing unfortunately. No discernable 4 or 5.
Did Wasps come with 262's.
My son lives in Puyallup. Whats with all the Commodores on Federal Way?
Hudsonphiles let me know, please whether the !954 Wasp came with a 262.
Thanks,
John0 -
Yes 262 wide block was standard on a Wasp. great engine..0

Thanks, Super Dave,
My Standard Catalog of American Cars shows the 232 cid engine as the stock engine for the 1954 Wasp and doesn't show the 262 as an option. I appreciate the help.
Thanks again,

54 Wasp I just scrapped out has a 262 in it, albeit bored .060 over.0

Heart Of Texas wrote:John... CUr on line... just a confirmation... the 54 Wasp came standard with the 232. In 54 the buyer who ordered his Hudson Wasp could obtain a 262 from the factory as well as a 308 that was Dealer installed. There are several Hudson dealership letters that informed dealers that they could offer these engines in any of the Stepdowns...including the Wasp model.
Cheers
I stand corrected.. I don't ever recall seeing one,so made an assumption. By 54 they were getting desperate to sell anything I guess.0 -

PUallup (pretend the "y" is silent!)
I grew up in Puyallup, most of my family still lives there and my big brother is a Sgt. on the PPD
I don't understand the reference to Commodores on Federal Way - enlighten me a bit more...0 -
Dan,
I have seen at least 3 Commodores on Ebay that were located on or near Federal way. I was just curious. They were all typical NW cars, pretty rusty. There must be a Hudsonite there somewhere.
My son is a Sgt. also, but at Ft Lewis, at least until June and then I think he's going to work for Seattle School district as a program director and attend UWA.
I have to travel to Redmond and Mercer Island for meetings occaisionally, if I am going to be up that way I'll let you know and we can visit.
