Jet door handles

I am doing the body work on my 53' jet, how do you get the door handles off??

Also thanks for all the help on my popping noise. I think I got rid of it. I re- torqued the rear hubs down to 120 pounds. I haven't noticed it any more, but I haven't got to drive it latley, I have the seats at the upholstery shop. I am still going to retighten my ring gear though.

Thanks, Barry Smedley. :)

I believe they need to be removed from inside of the door. If you pop your door panel off, you should be able to see one screw going in at a diagonal on the backside of the handle. Once you remove that screw, pull the handle towards the rear about a quarter inch. It should come right off. I can post a picture of a removed door handle if need be. Also check out hudsonjet.net

Barry, open the door and there is a screw on the inside of the door, near the trailing edge. Remove that screw and the handle comes off, you don't have to take the door apart, it is right there accessible, it might be behind a rubber plug--Have a look, you will see it.

Sarah, I just checked out your website, you are doing a nice job on your Jet, I have a 53 Super Jet.
  • Were you able to match the original upholstery? I've checked SMS and they could not do an exact match. I haven't checked any local auto interior shops yet though.
  • Thanks, Sarah I like your web site, If you like I will send you a picture of my jet.
