Help needed re lock

Can anyone help with instructions for removing the key barrel (slug?) from a trunk handle from a 28 Essex RS Coupe. I have taken the cover from the lower shaft & exposed & removed the pin holding the shaft into the mechanism but the barrel will still not come out. I presume that there in another pin holding the barrel into the upper part of the "T" handle that is hidden behind the cover on the stem of the "T". The barrel does turn with the key & the locking tongue retracts & advances but the top of the barrel is broken about 1/4" down. The tongue seems to prevent further progess.



Help please as I have a new & working barrel that reputedly fits this lock and I need to reuse the handle part. My locksmith is currently stymied
