1950 Commodore & Pacemakers

The Pacemaker and the Pacemaker Deluxe were only offered for one year -1950. The Deluxe Pacemaker had a few more trim items but essentialy both were shorter wheelbase models than the Commodore in 1950. Other differences were a smaller engine size, different size brakes, smaller clutch, less trim both inside and outside than the bigger cars, and fewer options available to order. The air cleaner you were looking at came on both the Commodore and Pacemaker but had a different size base diameter to accomodate a different size carb opening . These came in both oil bath and non oil bath. The key for you is to look at the triangular aluminium tag on the passenger side front door post indicating exactly what car you are looking at. The 1950 Pacemaker would have a prefix number of 500 followed by the sequential production number. For example 500XXXXwould indicate a Pacemaker. The Pacemaker deluxe would be 50AXXXXX. Other prefixes for that year would be 501 for Super Six,502 for Commodore Six,503 for Super Eight ,504 for Commodore Eight.0

The previous posted information will allow you to identify the 1950 Pacemaker and Pacemaker deluxe when using the serial ID plate.
Hudson produced Pacemaker models for many years. The Stepdown Pacemakers started in 1950 and ended in 1953. 1950 is the only year Hudson offered two different versions of the Pacemaker. The 1951 model Serial number ID Plates begin with 4A and the 1952 with 4B.
The most distictive difference between the 1950 Big cars and all other stepdowns is the split rear window. If you car has a split rear window it is NOT a Pacemaker. See the attached pictures. The B&W picture is a factory photo of the Pacemaker the Red car is a Commodore

According to the specifications on Alex Burr's extensive listings.... I believe the Pacemaker 4A was for 1951 and 4B is the designated serial numbers for 1952 - which I thought was the last year for the Pacemaker production altogether. I have the 4B series.
Am I wrong about this? My serial number plate from Hudson says 4B-138394 and I really hope it is the 52.

You are correct... I fat fingered the wrong starting year and followed the mistake. I have corrected my previous posting. Thanks0
