eng # 7313695 I have your 1954 eng in my car
I am rebuilding the original 54 engine (308, I know, numbers-matching) for my 54 Super Wasp Hollywood, and will be removing what I am lead to believe is a 1954 308 engine, ID # 7313695 (located on the pas side up front of the eng block). The 7313695 eng probably came in a Hornet, apparentlyl
I double-checked the following website and apparently it is a 1954 engine, built in September 1954.

This 7313695 eng was probably a West Coast eng from a West Coast car (Los Angeles area).
So, all of you 1954 Hudson owners who might know of this car with same body ID (7313695) has survived, perhaps you'll help to track the current owner to see if he wants the original engine.
Just a thought in passing. Just send me a private message in case you know the owner or the car or can suggest a way of tracking the engine to the car.
IDEA: whoever has access to the HET club roster data base could possibly do a search on "313695" or "7313695" to see if it is found. If so the car still exists; great! Any/all help appreciated.
THANKS.

would that not be a 54 engine with that serial number?0

Nick , Why would it be a 54 Seriel # ?0
-
here's my thinking
Starting 54 number was 269090, my 54 has a 317xxx number. i know it was produced in Oct of 54. I don't have the monthly breakdowns handy but i would believe that 313695 would be from a Hornet (due to the "7") produced around mid sept 54.0 -
as per 7 d ?

All Hornets Started Wi 73 Until Mid Year Then Went To 74, Body And Engine Numbers All Matched0

Of course if y'all had a copy of the Tech Info bulletins I've put together (Art Adams selection from the mid-70's, plus mine) you would find Ron Hewetts production figures from 1948-1954 (TS 81-4).
The information on the number given in the beginning of these postings, 7313695, was, indeed Sept 1954. Serial/Engine numbers ran from 312734 to 316250 in Sept 1954.
Hudsonly,
