Thermostat

I have a 212 splasher motor that has a recess cut in the thermostat housing like a late model car would. Is there any reason i couldnt use a late model smaller stat like on a ford or chevy etc. instead of the orig. big stat? Or do you think this would cause trouble heating etc.

Thanks Chuck G.

There are two types of outlet on 212 motors, depending on year model. If you have the tall type with the by-pass back to the block for recirculating, then you definitely need the tall type thermostat that fits right up into the neck of the outlet. If you have the smaller necked type then you can use a choke type or conventional squat thermostat.
