Automobile Magazine's Top 100 Coolest Cars
I came across this on the internet. Check out car number 83. Agree or disagree, this is a powerful list of nice cars.

#100: VW Microbus???? Definately not one of the "coolest" cars to own.

How did we get beat by an 83 VW (rabbit) GTI? And that 39 Lincoln Zephyr needs to be way higher! Who do I talk to about this!!!0

At least they didn't concentrate on one era, make, body style, or nation! That's a pretty fair list, all in all.
Oh, yeah, the VW Microbus - the 28-window version - they bring low $30K money these days. Pretty cool, no?
The '83 VW GTI saved VW's bacon in the US, and these were the Pennsylvania-built cars, too. I'm not a huge VW fan, but hey, the Citroen DS was in the top ten...a French anything on this list (other than a Delahaye!) is strange to me.0 -

If you will note everybody - there are damn few American cars on that list. Automobile Magazine is, like so many of these publications dazzled by foreign cars with exotic names, with a few American nameplates tossed in as a sop. I've seen this tendency for over 30 years, and it continues.
There was a list of, for lack of a better word since I can't remember now what they called the list, interesting cars, mostly American - the step-down Hudson was listed somewhere in there. But that's about the only one I've seen.

The 67 Microbus and any year with the windows on the roof (delux) are the Holly grail to VW owners. Surfers love them and former / and current Hippies. They are an icon to the 60's- just look at the character in the movie cars. I remember being a kid in the late 60's and sitting in one in the parking lot of the beach. The neighbor teenagers were much older than me and surfed. They had Beatle posters all over the inside of that thing.... great memories.0 -
Isn't that the car Spacoli was always getting stone in in Fast Times at Ridgemont High0

I think its a pretty fair list. Couple vehicles I would have liked to see on it, but you've got to think globally and they probably wouldn't have as wide recognition as those on this list. And there's only 100 spots! And besides, "cool" is such a subjective term.
