future value

I saw the movie and it was great. In my opinion the Hornets may rise a little in value but that is all. I have always wanted to build a street rod different than everyone elses. So i chose the Hudson. I recently purchased a two door commodore 8. I plan to make the drivetrain more modern and safe. I will leave the exterior original and maybe update the interior. Any help on the drivetrain will be appreciated. Question, the 8 must have been much slower than the 6 due to all the talk about the 6's power. Thanks guys!

What's so unsafe about a hudson 8? you can rebuild the existing motor, and make it as reliable as anything else out there. Personally, put in a 308, and be done with it.
  • I have always been a Stepdown Hudson person. Over the years I have had the opportunity to own a couple of 46 Hudson Pickups, 34 Hudson Coupe and a 39 Hudson Sedan. In 40+ years of Hudson ownership I have also on occasion had the real privilege of driving a few Stepdown 8s. What cars! The cars were smooth and full of power... I can tell you that if the occasion had been there, I would have an 8 powered Hudson today. In the scheme of things... the 8 was an old engine that cost Hudson quite a bit to build... the 6 was newer technology and cheaper to build... Automobile manufacturing is a business and pennies across thousands of vehicles make or break profit margins... If you have the chance and the funds... have that 8 rebuilt and enjoy the throaty sound of an 8 as you power away from the curb.

Cheers and Happy Father's Day to all Dads.

Ken, I agree. my 51 C-8 runs fine and is very smooth with very good pulling power in 3rd gear. I like the rt lane so I can savor all the thumbs up from passers by. fortunate for me park rebuilt the st 8 just before selling to me.I may buy another but the 8 stays, period
