Can someone remind me where I can get a Twin "H" dual exhaust manifold adapter ??

I can't seem to locate the ad, now that I've decided to buy one.

Thanks,

I have an original 7X exhaust manifold that has been professionally repaired that I will sell for the 400.00 I paid.
  • Mark Hudson has the adapters. hethudfarm@nctc.com Leave the het off.

Any one know how much they are? I was thinking of just welding one up so I would have a bigger outlet when I put the Twin H on. I have a full 2 1/2 system just the manifold collector is small. I am planning to port and polish the manifold then pull the butterfly out,but it looks like the collector to the headpipe may be the biggest restriction.

They used to be about $175.00 when Danny had them.
  • I tried the email address you gave me Billy K., but it came back as undeliverable. Can you confirm its a good one ??

    Thanks,

I opened my stock collector up to 2.25" rather than the stock 2" and removed the butterfly on my sedan. I removed the butterfly because it was leaking so badly. I don't think that I would try to open it up much larger than that, as there is an area that appears to be cast thinner than the rest. Every little bit counts!

The "butterfy" heat riser can be rebuilt fairly easily with the manifold off the car. I bought bronze bushings from Ace hardware and a steel dowl or shaft to match.. Drilled the manifold and installed the bushings. Drilled out the old spring pin that was rusted off, installed a roll pin. tack welded the butterfly on to the shaft. Now I have a smooth quick warmup and no leaks or rattles. I think I would rework the stock outlet to fit the single larger outlet rather than go to a dual system. Of course it wouldn't sound the same, but would be much cheaper and probably as efficient. Just my 2 cents worth. I bought one of those dual outlets from Danny but never used it.

Yes they do come close and the pump has to be removed to install just the adapter...or take the manifold off. I don't know which is worse!

Just what is the difference in the original 7X exhaust and the "adapter" ?? I have never seen an original.

Original is split all the way up, using original manifold does not give true advantage of split manifold that original has, as it is open where heat riser is.
  • Your comment is well respected Bill. I think I'll just try tweaking the exhaust pipe a bit, and maybe fit a couple different mufflers until I get the sound I want. I thought maybe duals out the back with Hudson deflectors and the "right" sound would be kinda cool, but I'm straying off the path here from stock too, so maybe I'll leave well enough alone.

I should check out that old muffler some day soon though!! I once owned a '29 Dodge Brothers car that would idle like a Swiss watch, but wouldn't take throttle for love nor money. After trying everything I could think of at the motor end, I finally pulled the exhaust system off for a look-see, and lo and behold, the muffler was packed solid with dog food !! Some rodent had been stealing Fido's lunch, and squirelling it away in the muffler !!

Once that was cleaned out, -- no more problems with high revs. Hmmmmnnnn ---- who knows what the Hudson'll do if it has that problem.. And I thought it was hot already !!! :-)
