Jet windsheild

What is the best way to get the front windsheild out of my Jet. I have been spraying it with wd-40 for months, the rubber is in pretty good condition, so I was hoping to reuse it. The rubber also has the stainless moulding on it. Do I need to remove that first or can I leave it on?? Do I work from the inside of the car or outside?? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks, Barry S. :)

    Barry,

I'm thinking in order to preserve your glass, you should sacrifice your moulding. If you simply cut-off the old molding, you can easily lift your glass out. Getting it in is a little trickier, but it's also easier with brand new, supple and flexible moulding.

    Good Luck,

  • Thanks for the advice, but the windshield is bad, and the rubber is good. I have another windsheild Does the k-gap rubber made for the moulding??

    Thanks, Barry S.
  • I'm pretty sure Dany at K-Gap told me they had the rubber for Jet windshields.

You have to remove the stainless moulding, and then pull the lip of the rubber out to enable you to remove the screen. This is covered in the Body service manual, available from the Club store. However, if you feel incompetent to do the installation, it is a small investment to take it to a professional glass installer to do the job, as I did. Cost me $120, but well worth it.

  • I checked with K-Gap, they do have the rubber, I was afraid that they didn't have the kind with the grooves for the stainless molding. But they do. For $50.00 bucks I can get the windsheild out with worrying about the old rubber. Thanks a bunch!!
