Reproduction sunvisors and fenderskirts

At one point K-Gap actually made copies of the 1937 (and maybe other) skirts. Those ('37) skirts are now being reproduced by someone else, so it may not be a good year for you to offer, as you'll be in competition. As to exterior sunvisors, Big Jim's out in Texas is making those (possibly in fiberglass) for the StepDowns, I believe.0

If the price were reasonable, and the quality was there, I can't imagine there would be a stepdown without a sunvisor!
I got one for you, How about repro linkage for twin H set-ups....
you know, the main rod that gets bolted to the block, the carb rods would be easy, brackets, since they seem non-existent, and even the whatchamcallit (name of the part is not in my head right now...) for the gas pedal linkage to the main rod part.
Air cleaners are around, manifolds are here or there as well, carbs are easy enough, but brackets and linkage, well, they are just hard to find.
Think of me Mr. Spring, when you make the first million on this idea!
BTW, super website!
you should put a link in your signature evertime you post!0 -
I thought I heard the sunvisors have a problem at speed. I like the way they look (they're best on the sleds), but if I want to jump to 80-100mph on the highway, I don't want it ripping off!

How much interest would there be in these items?
The weakness in the design of the factory sunvisor is that it is made in 2 halves. A one piece sunvisor would still need a centre bracket but would be a lot stronger and more stable. Might even stay on at 100mph!0 -
I think that a reproduction visor would be a great idea if the price is reasonable. Has anyone thought about reproducing the stepdown gas tanks? Todays crappy and expensise gas is destroying them. They reproduce replacements tanks for most 50's Chevys and Fords at reasonable prices. How about a replacement tank for a Hudson? I believe the same tank is used 48-54.0

Dany,
A nice original visor is going from $300 to $400. I'm still mad I missed one by seconds at the Western Regional. I'd buy a repro but only if it were steel. A complete repro Twin-H linkage would be a GOOD item. Very hard to find a complete set up. Everyone has to scrounge for these parts. There are already repro traffic light viewers out there.0 -
I'd be interested in a strong visor. And the gas tank idea is good, though not sure if it will work with my 4 link.

The beauty of repro Twin-H linkage is that it would be pretty easy to make- fab a couple of brackets, and the rest is just a matter of rods cut and threaded to the right length with the proper little duvissaries on the ends- once you sourced the pieces, would be a cinch to make. And they are almost impossible to find. The sun visors and gas tanks are also excellent ideas.0

I think there was an outfit called Agape Auto Parts that was making visors and skirts but I dunno if they're still in business or what they were list in Hemmings at one time. As far as the gas tank suggestion, '46-'47's (maybe '40-'47's) really need new gas tanks...although not as big a market perhaps. Danny if you're thinking of reproducing something and need some start up money the CHI-MIL chapter kept some money form the Madison national and was thinking that we'd designate the funds to go to a worthy reproduction part that most of HET could benefit from.0

Well so much for Danny's original question, all kinds of ideas here for stuff. I am going to be building a Twin H, maybe if I don't have to much trouble making my linkage parts I should make some extras.0
-
Considering the cost to have a gas tank professionally cleaned and sealed, a well priced reproduction tank would be a good choice.0
-
Dany, There is a shortage of visors and mounting hardware for the 54 models. I have only seen 2 or 3 with a visor. There are a lot of 54s out there and may be a market for visors there.

Nothing against skirts, visors and hardware, but "everyone needs" a good gas tank.0

Danny Ken Amman Had The Sunvisor Brackets Made There $160 A Set As For The Skirts I Had A Set Press Made For My 1939 112 Cp The Always Looked Good As For The Gas Tank I'd Like One And The Traffic Light Vewer Would Be A Good Idea Also One's On Ebay Right Now At Over $177 Thanks For Asking What We Need0

Is kgap still carrying '37 skirts? I looked at their web site and didn't see them.0
-
Yeah, a gas tank would be great....
If anyone is even thinking about a twin h set-up, $40 for bill's linkage is a steal.
if you might do it someday, get the main shaft, it is hard to find. The linkage to the carbs can be made, fairly easy, well, at least by hudsondad, who did mine. I just hunted down all of the parts.....0 -
I agree with the general concensus- GAS TANKS!!! I am sure there would be a market for stepdown tanks. I know I would buy one rather than relining an old tank.0

dany, my motor/trans mounts came on june 15, thanks, coupe runs/shifts/performs better now that everything is stable and solid. i am interested in the conversion plate for a g.m. thm350 tranny bolted to a splasher motor re: my 37 t-plane. is there some one in calif. allready making them? how about decals ? all motors/years hudson-tplanes ect.. thanks again. dermot.0

I need a set of fender skirts and a visor for my 47 pickup. I vote for these parts.0
-
As long as we are talking about parts needed to be reproduced, how about the center caps for the wire wheel covers? Several months ago someone on this board mentioned looking into that possibility. I haven't seen anything else since. I would take four right now and I know others who are looking for originals.0

BTW I would use a fender skirt for a 47 pickup
well, within reason, if the sunvisor were repro'd and the price was higher than the market for an original, then no. Further, you got to figure where the price should be, in relation to an original. At some point, you are better off buying an original. Seems sunvisors are available from what, $300-500 (300 is possibly a bit low...) SO... what's the market price for a repro.... maybe $300-375.... at best? just some thoughts....0
