Have a buyer for a 51- 53 Hornet Club Coupe
I have a buyer who is looking for a 51- 53 Hornet Club Coupe or perhaps may consider a Hollywood. He is a cash buyer and is looking for a # 3 type car in the 10 to 15 grand range. He lives in Australia and with shipping costs so expensive, it would be necessary to find a car here on the West Coast (if at all possible).
This is a sincere guy and he has been looking for a while. I've been looking for him aswell. He has missed a few by a day or so. If anyone knows someone who has one to sell, please let me know. He follows the e-bay offerings but as you know, these driver condition cars are nearly impossible to find. Please e-mail me at hetnptelcel@aol.com (drop the het) or PM me with any leads. Thx. Niels

How much does it cost to ship to Australia? I know guys here shipping land yacht Caddys to Norway from Long Beach, CA for $1,500.

From the footpath (sidewalk) in Long Beach to the footpath in Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne for a stepdown, work on AU$3500 to 4000, US$2600 to 3000, but that is most probably on a share container basis, ie 2 cars in a 40' container.
If you are buying a reasonable US car, 15 to 20k, then a 3k premium for shipping is not excessive, especially if it makes you the only kid on the block with a Hornet or a coupe.
Virtually the only stepdowns that were sold new in Australia - 200 to 300 a year - were base model sedans. Twin H, hydramatic and 54 power brakes were not offered on RHD cars, so there is a fair bit of interest here in US Hornets and coupes with all the bells and whistles.0 -
Plus we don't want to add the cost of shipping a car from the East Coast to the West Coast if at all possible. Thanks in advance!0

I got some quotes a while back on shipping FROM AUS to the US, and the price difference was almost zero from Brisbane to either Long Beach, CA or Houston, TX - less than a hundred dollars. When shipping that distance, as long as you are close to a seaport on any coast, the price shouldn't be all that different. Don't limit yourselves to west coast cars. You can ship from Jax, FL, Savannah, GA, and others on the east coast...the car doesn't have to go overland to the west coast to be shipped.0
