Independent Fever
Went to a cruise last night at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk Ct. There were over 100 cars. Cruise started at 6.00 pm . I arrived late and 7.00 pm. As I pulled in and parked, no more than 1minute after arrival, one of the sponsers of the Hosting cruise chapter handed me a trophy. I hadn't had a chance to wash my 54 Hornet sedan or even lift my hood. I couldn't believe it. I literally pulled in and got a trophy. The reason I'm even bringing this up is because there were so many other gorgeous cars there but only 5 independent makes. Every Independent won a trophy. There were 2 other Hudson's. A 54 Hornet conv't , all original with 17,000 thousand miles that was amazing and a 54 super jet also nice. THere was one Studebaker Hawk and one Nash rambler. They were also nice.
With all the other vettes , impala's , mustangs ect..... only the independents seemed to be getting all the attention of the crowd..
Truly Amazing.

I know what you mean, I own three restored Crosley's ( and a 53' Super Jet under construction) when I go to a show or any where, people just stop and head toward my Crosley's. They all think that they are english. I just say nope they are Hoosier! I hope I get the same reaction with my Jet!

Thank God For The Hoosier's0

That is great. I have Studebakers and my Hudson however many shows around here give awards only to the big 3, if you have an independent you are out of luck!0

I have been to 3 car shows this year and have won 3 trophys. 2 first in class at car shows that were chosen by the participants and a third in class at an AACA judging meet.
I really prefer the ones that were chosen by the people because they like my Hudson.
As far as the judging shows? I appreciate the fact that as a club the HET does not judge our own cars.0 -
I agree . THat is a neat thing about the club. One big happy family.....0

I am in the Crosley club, great bunch of people. They don't care if your car is perfect, the are just happy you have one. very helpful to.
And so far the Hudson bunch are great too. Every time I ask for help, ther is always plenty of help. When you mess with these orphans it is nice to know that there is somebody always there eger to help you. Thanks All!

Bill, I didn't even get a chance to talk to him. I went to the car righth away and he was not around. I do know that he lives in Rye, New York. I also know that Charlie Salvoto know's the car because I spoke to him about it today. He know's the last owner from the 70's . The car is completely original and amazing. Also it's single carb and Borg Warner. Looks like the day it rolled out of the show room. It was stored in some guys basement on long island for 40 yr.s on blocks.0
