Soak cables with a heavy penetrating oil or light motor oil, something that will help to loosen cable inside it's housing. Had a similar problem with 49 Commocore after haveing to use it for a month after the wife left and took my road car. So, living in Michigan and the corrosive environment --need I say more. Cables froze up. I got custody of Kids and kept Hudsons and Studebakers, so I'm the winner, nuf said.

Right you are Kim. That works for the Bowden cables for hood release, cowl vent, and heater control too.0

Coincidently, my emergency brake got stuck on just two days ago. I had to drive it backwards up on a pair of ramps. I don't know what the part is called but it is the pivoting bar that the rear wheel e-brake cables are attached to.... the bar was just stuck and needed some lubrication and a hit with a hammer to free it. Just follow your emergency brake cable from the hood down and see where it connects. You'll see what I mean.0

hi Hudson Dave here .i have done brakes for most of my life and the best thing for e-brake cables is brake fluid . Yes brake fluid it will find it's way through rusted cables in short order. I have a friend how bought an old fire truck and the motor was froze he tried for days at no avail. He said he had put diesel down the cylinders and it sat for a week and it was still stuck. i told him to get the diesel out of there and put brake fluid in it. Two days later he stopped by to tell me he would not have be leave it if he had not done it himself but with a little bit of work it turn over now . Brake fluid will free up just about anything if you are willing to waite. Hudson Dave0
