Soda Blasting

A few years ago I talked the folks who sell the baking soda blasting process into coming over and giving a demonstration to our chapter of the Hudson Club. We used my 1936 Terraplane as the test vehicle. We learned that it does a great job on removing paint and grease from parts and it won't hurt your glass or rubber parts. It is totally biodegradable and won't kill your plants. However, it will not remove rust. After the car was totally soda blasted, I had to have some parts bead blasted to remove rust before it was repainted. If rust is not a problem, I would highly recommend it.

PS. My wife flipped when she saw our front yard and my neighbors thought that our house was on fire while we were doing it.

  • I recently had a 47 Super Six sedan done and liked the process. Be sure to wash it down well after and then use a metal treatment. And cover your stainless, it will dull it.

Between the noise level and the dust cloud it was an event.
