Next to the Visor I think the rear venetian Blind is the KOOOOLEST KEMP accessory for a Stepdown. I have one of these kits in my 53 albeit not made for it... I used later model Blind blades and cut them to my window size.

I'm with you Walt, can't improve on perfection. But, I'l have to admit this is a neat option. Reminds me of the external type my 70 Mach I .

Hello Ken (AKA HOT), I had one of these for sale at the National meet in Reno for $100.00, no one even asked about it. I sold it at the San Diego Big 3 swap meet last Feb. for $100.00. Press Kale has one in his '48 Hudson, LQQKs great in his car.
  • I saw that at Reno. Great price I thought, but I have one in my 48. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to check out the backseat in a drive-in yet but they offer great sun shielding and privacy. A nice piece of nostalgia too.
  • Am not sure how safe it would be, seems it is hard enough to see out that back window as it is. Guess if a person is not driving, and wanted a bit of 'privacy' in the back seat (?)

The rear window venetian blind shown is misleading... when installed ... the edge of the blind is facing forward so you actually do not see much of the blind at all. The blind is metal and the item shown is dirty and would clean and paint easily.

Walt ... I agree... that Visors and Venetian blinds are something you LOVE OR HATE... been at both juctions before.... LOVIN THEM AT THIS TIME

So whats the general concensus on availability of this item and a reasonable price range?

I've always wanted to put a set in the rear of the 49.

Did someone else mention they are metal? If thats the case given the not-completly-stock nature of my build I might just make a set and put some electricity to them!

I've removed the rear window venetians that came with my recentlyish acquired 53 coupe. You can't see jack sh*t out of the back of a stepdown at the best of times, the venetians just made it worse.

Keep an eye on ebay, they will appear there before too long.
  • I had these in my 54 sedan, had no problem seeing out the rear window, but I removed them because the slats had a tendency to come loose while running 70 mph with the windows down. They do look good when installed though, and can be adjusted from open -- to fully closed / .......
