Starting w/ my first Hudson
I am VERY new at restoring cars, and want to start this year with my Dad's Jet or Jetliner. They had been sitting side by side by the barn for as long as I can remeber (they have since been moved). He claimed they both were driven and left.
Any advice on which to start on?
How interchangeable are the parts?
I need any advice I can get! Thanks.

Welcome to the forum and the Hudson Family!!
As to which one to start on first you will need to inspect them thoroughly and try to assess what each one needs mechanically and body / frame Look for rust under the cars -- frame, floorboards, etc.
Does iether one run? Is it possible to get them running to see what it may need engine clutch tranny wise.
Brake system will have to be attended to also, plus possible suspension.
I am not very familar with Jets ( I have a 51 Pacemaker cpe) but I am pretty posirive that most of the stuff interchanges.
I am sure other Hudson members with more knowledge than I will answer some of your question and offer advice.
If you are not a Hudson Club member I strongly urge you to do so. Fantastic club, faily oriented and very willing to help out. You should also join your local chapter - not sure which one covers your area, but I'm sure someone will post it here.0 -

Jet enthusiasts are a different part of the HUDSON crowd... Hudson enthusiasm keeps them in the family, but hard work keeps them on the road! Jets were only manufactured in 1953 and 1954. Aside from the transmissions and a few hard parts the Jets are a breed apart. Thier engines were used in later model 55-56 Hudson Wasps but other than that they are not interchangeable with the Bigger Hudson cars. While some of the accessories will interchange... they are generally not for the Jets.
Good Luck... as far as where to start... inspect the cars... select the one in best overall repair and state of completeness and get it running then safe to operate on the road... then drive it for a while before you invest anymore money.
Good Luck and welcome0 -
Welcome to the Hudson Jet world. In general you will find that those of us who have them, love them - and those who never drove one don't like them. If one of your Jets have Twin H (dual carbs) I would fix that one first (or switch it the the one that's in better shape).
My '53 Super Jet has Twin H and Hydramatic ... and usually leaves stoplight traffic in it's dust. My neighbors especially love it when it chirps tire going into 2nd gear.
Post some pics, I'd love to see your new projects.

All Jets are identical as far as parts are concerned. Variations occur in trim details. But the only parts that interchange with any other model Hudson are the valve lifters, which are the same as '48-'55 6's, and all Mopar 6's, and the pistons, which interchange with all '34 -47 6's and 34'-'52 8's. Clutch is a standard Borg and Beck dry clutch, which is used in the '55 - '56 Hornets and Wasps, and also Mopar and Studebaker.
