Dodge is supposed to announce the new Hornet tonight at Daytona Speedway.

That is one "Ugly" car.. Oh well, the AMC Hornet wasn't much of a car either. M\Hudson's Hornet must be a tough act to follow.

A Toad ! Just what are they thinking ?
  • Daimler Chrysler is famous for applying old car names to new models that are nothing like the original namesake. The Chrysler Aspen will be a badge engineered Dodge Durango and the new rental car fleet favorite Dodge Charger is nothing like the '86 Dodge Charger my highschool girlfriend had, and absolutely nothing like the big orange car that Bo and Luke Duke drove!
  • Yeah, The new chargers can't compare to my 1968 Charger RT and they are not even available in a two door model.

Bottom line - they ain't the cars our fathers drove ---- well, in my case, tho I hate to admit it, the cars I drove!!!! LOL

Stylists running wild with butt ugly cars these days.

My initial thought is to shoot it and put it out of it's misery.

  • It's good for what it is, i just don't believe the Hornet name applies to this little car. It needs a more contemporary (and original) name.
  • Are those racing stripes or did Wiley Coyote just run over it? Neep Neep Zoooooom.

Well hopefully it will pass shortly. No one really remebers the AMC Hornets thank god, but until the movie came out, most had never heard of the REAL Hornet either.

Actually, having owned a couple of AMC Hornets I found them to be good solid transportation. Both eventually died, like my AMC Ramblers - but from rot and high milage (had between 200,000 and 225,000 on both) - and most all of my others. (AMC cars had a secret - if you could get 'em over 20,000 miles they would pretty much run forever with minimum maintenance.)

At least the AMC Hornet had a fairly distinctive styling - not like this econo box that looks like everything else on the road in it's class.
