Hudson "expert" in North Central Arkansas?

:confused: Does anyone know of a Hudson "expert" in the North Central Arkansas area? ( I am in Mountain Home AR ) I am learning about my 49 Commodore 8 from this forum and the manuals but it sure would be nice to be able to take the old girl to someone that had some knowledge of Hudsons.

I am getting some leakage under the car. Some oil and some transmission oil or perhaps Hudsonitte. The oil might be coming from the rear main bearing oil seal. I can't find where the manual transmission is leaking from. I sure would like to find someone to take a look and assist me in these repairs. I have made a couple of attempts by tightening the oil pan bolts, tightening fittings by the oil pump and the oil pressure sending unit but I obviously did not get them all.

What are the sources for seals, such as the rear main bearing oil seal and for transmission seals?

    Hi Chris;

    Several years ago I was on a working trip to Tulsa, Chicago,and Detroit. I was driving My 49 Commodore. I was looking for parts and Hudson people along the way. I had a roster and found a guy in Fayetteville that had a building full of Hudsons and a grove full of parts cars. He was on oxygen at that time. His Dad was a Hudson dealer at one time and he grew up working on Hudsons. I'm sorry I can't think of his name,but if some one on the forum has an older roster you may be able to locate his place. I hope he's not left us. As I recall he damaged his lungs as result of improperor no respirator while painting a car. He was younger than me.He was an exciting guy to be around. A Lifetime of knowldege. Your not far from Fayetteville. Let me know what you find and if you can't find a roster, I'll dig mine out, I think I know where it is. Hope this helps.

    Hey Gary;

    I found a Mr. Burton Lee Jr. in Mountain Home, Ar. in the latest roster. Phone # is 870-499-7410 or, email- super6@centurytel.net. He has several Hudsons, one of them a 50 Connodore 8. Hope this helps.

    Gene, I send Burton a email. I will see if he replies. I have been driving around Mountain Home with the 49 Commodore for months and have not seen another Hudson. Sure hope he replies. If he does, we visit with him and pick his brain ( and look at his cars! )

    THANKS FOR THE INPUT!

  • Some people you might want to contact are:

    H.D. Whisenhunt Fayetteville,Ar.

    William Hinde Hot Springs,Ar.

    Both of their names and information are in the Hudson Roster.

    We now have an "Arkansas Chapter" of the Hudson club, which Mr. Hinde is President. We had our FIRST meeting a couple of months ago, at the home of the late Kelly Hinegardner(Terraplane Kelly), who was the one to get this Chapter organized. At the meeting, it was decided that the there would be no membership dues, for this first year. WOW, something that's actually FREE!

    If you're ever on the "good side" of Arkansas(West Memphis), give me a shout.
  • wkitchens,

    I met with Burt Lee today in Northfork, AR. He has 4 Hudsons - a 50 Commodore, a 47 Pickup, a 51 Super Six and a parts car. I was able to pick his brain for a while and will set up a time to go back and tap his experience. He is a long time member of HET.

    I was contacted by a Bill Verwolf about joining the Arkansas Hudson Club - is this the same club you are talking about? I can't imagine they are starting two Hudson Clubs in Arkansas. I gave Bill our information and asked him to contact me the next time they had a meeting. He said they would be back to us after the National meet in Kearney Nebraska. I would hate to think I missed a meeting. Anyway, I sure would like to drop the next time I travel to visit my sister in Memphis ( Bartlett ).

    Thanks for the inputs!
