I scanned a couple of the articles from the Summer 1971, Vol 9, Number 4 in which Hudson was the featured make. One of the them is by Robert Andrews, who was on the the Step Down design team with sketches of various stepdown concepts (I particularly like the shark nose front), also info about Frank Spring. Along with this one is the short story about the Italia and X-161 w/ pics of each. The second article starts out as a humor article about Hudson speed and racing and then info on the Hudson racing legacy along with all the records from '51 to '54. The first on is 5.8MB and the second is 1.8MB. I will send them to whomever wants them.

If you can get a copy of this AQ it is worth it, it is what sold me on Hudsons in 1985

    Hi Dan,
I would love to have a copy of the large file about the design team. Could you send it to my private e-mail address? Don't know if it will be too big though.

Chaz would be happy to send it, but I do not know your private email address?

Hey Dan, if you can get me a copy, and it is a good scan, maybe I can post it on HudsonCLub.org. Let me know

I'd like a copy my email is dan@ypfs.com

If you have Winzip you could try and compress the files - but either way my ISP will let it through - some others may have size restrictions on their internet mail accounts...

Thanks! I just checked my email - interesting stuff!

Does anyone have further information, articles, pictures of the Hudson prototype stuff? It would sure be fun to get detailed information (as much as possible anyway*) and create a "proto-type" stepdown as envisioned by some of the early Frank Spring drawings!

And heres fix up from the scan of a rather unique picture of the X-161 - boy wouldn't it be nice to have the full negative to produce a poster? The image is really cool...somewhere on a back country road...in the day...

I still think the X-161 is cool and if they had gone this way Hudson would have sold a bunch of cars!
