Too bad, lots and lots of rust.... If it were here on the West Coast and the price was right, I could use it for my rust free project 54 Club Coupe.

I spoke to the seller and he said that it runs and drives well. Just has alot of rust issues. All original and untouched in a barn since 1970....

Wonder how close that interior is to one in a 54 Special? Looks like an original green. At least gives me some idea what mine should look like.

I am doing a '54 Special that was my Dads. The interior in the late Special was the Hounds Tooth pattern. This car was made in August of '54. They were using Wasp interiors in the Hornet Special as of August. ;)

If you have any photos I would very much like to see. My interior was really butchered by some amatures somewhere along it's 52 year life and I don't know what it should really be like. I would like to start getting it back that way since this redone interior is starting to fall apart anyway. How do you tell when it was built, I would like know that on mine.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,

The following is a link to pictures of the fabric... the sources are listed. The vendor will not sell direct. Steve Traut of Dallas Texas has a 54 Super Wasp Brougham like your car that has been redone in these two materials. It is really sharp and original in appearance. Steve recently told me the material cost $800 for the car... that did not include the uphostery charges.

Note this from my website... the 54 Super Wasp used the 53 Hornet interior fabrics.

    Cheers:rolleyes:
  • It is my understanding that only the '53s used the checkerboard type material. My '54 Hornet Special used a houndstooth type pattern. 464, I'll get a couple of closer photos up on a response for you.:D

Power brakes tend to run $100 to 300 if they are complete sets.

Additional $300 + to be rebuilt buy Power Brake Exchange

Although kanter sells a rebuild kit for $60 and boot for $12 and you can rebuild them yourself. I just did one yesterday and took about 2-3 hours to take apart, clean (glass blast), paint , reassemble

You are welcome to come and stay as long as you like. I'll supply the tools, parts and list of things to fix. LOL Have you had any experience with the Hydovac units? Those units didn't connect to linkage, just hydraulic and vacuum lines.

So which should it be, checkered or plain? I was hoping the original might be under my godforsaken pattern, but when I peeled it back it wasn't there.

If you have the tools--try it yourself--it's not brain surgery--might be surprised what you can do.

Got one also on a 54 sedan. Putting one a 54 coupe for Albright Award. The supplement catalog shows nice detail on how these function and go together

The 54 Wasp and Super Wasps used the checker board materials. I have had several cars which had Green or blue checker board with broad cloth bolsters and a accent fabric which contained both the prime color as a back ground and the secondary color as the pattern. The door panels used vinyl with the base color too . At one time I had a complete bolt of checker board cloth that was red-maroon which was to be used in a Wasp Sedan. That material sold with the car.

    Ken,

Since I have a Special then I should have a green checkerboard interior? Is that just part of it or are the whole seats and door panels checkerboard?
  • 464 Saloon

I have a pretty nice green interior in a 54 Brougham that I am parting out.

The seats are in very good condition as are the rear side panels. The front panels are gone. The material appears to be a copy of the original type.

Other 54 Brougham parts available as well, incl a decent running 308 with a dual range hydramatic.

:) The 1954 Hudson Group Parts manual lists the upholstery combinations available for the various Hudson bodies and models. The ID plate has a TRIM CODE area... the following chart will allow you to ID what the original uphostery for a 6 D 2 door sedan was when it left the factory.

I got a rebuilt hydrovac from a studebaker that I plan to use on my C8

    Thanks Ken,

Little by little I am getting closer to figuring it out. I don't know where to look for the trim code, but assuming it is a Special that should rule out the three leather options. That leaves me with green or blue cloth. My dash is green and appears to be original so I assume I had a green interior. Does anyone have any photos of what an original would look like. I think my door panel have been modified to, so I really need to see what an original looks like so I can at least start working in that direction.

    Thanks,
