1951 Hornet Parts
Greetings from Colorado!
I am in the process of bringing a 1951 Hornet back to life after 33 years of sitting in a field. The vehicle had been vandalized and items stolen/damaged. I am slowly looking to replace them. I am building this car to be a driver and to use to pull my teardrop trailer.
I have all sorts of questions and will post them one at a time as they arise. The posts that I have made have been graciously answered and I appreciate the help/information!
Does anyone have a gearshift knob [hydramatic] that they would like to sell or know where I can find one?
How about a pair of fender skirts?
Sources for:
-seat kit/door panel [kit or material]/headliner/windlace/carpet. Not necessarily original, but nice quality items.
-replacement plastic knobs for interior controls. Heat has made the originals brittle and they are deteriorating .
-Wiring harnesses
-6 volt positive to 12 volt negative conversion information
-replacement chrome.
Anything in particular that I need to be aware of [or avoid] as I begin this resurrection journey?
More questions to come!
Thanks!

All of your questions can be easily answered ..
Might I suggest you join us in the Evnings at:

Random answers: many if not most of the body parts (chrome, knobs, fender skirts) you seek are sold new or used by vendors who advertise in the H-E-T newsletter; if a member, try photocopying a wish list and sending it to several of the 'regular' vendors. If not yet a member, I advise you join the Club. Wiring harnesses: Rhode Island Wiring Harness or Y & Z. Headliners: Acme. Carpet: Kanter Auto Products. Upholstery: LeBaron Bonney or SMS. For addresses or websites go to Dave and Mitzi Sollon's webpage at http://home.earthlink.net/~dsollon/public.htm/ . As to 12 volt conversion....are you sure you need it? For other technical questions try Ken Cates' Stepdown webpages at http://members.aol.com/stepdown53/STEPDOWNPG.html .0
