  • David, If your id tag is the origional, then what you have is a 1951 Hudson Hornet. As far as double lever transmissions go, that first appeared in 1952 up the last Detroit built Hudsons were produced. With the cars we all own, there are discrepencies. With the number of years and the number of owners a lot can happen in the way of parts replacement, modifications to the origional, bastardization of factory origional setups etc. The serial number on your Hornet is extremely close to mine and I know that mine was produced in about December of 1950. Hope this helps.

I have a Hudson Information Bulletin that was published in the White Triangle News back in 1984 as TS 81-4 giving 1946-1954 production runs by serial number and month of manufacture.

According to this list 1951 Hudson, serial number 106,537, was produced in April 1951 (100,192 thru 111,664).

See what info you can get out of my CD offerings (hey, folks, I'll plug this offer anytime I can!!!):D

    Tech Info Bulletins - $10

    General Info Handbook - $10

    1949-1954 Hudson Service Merchandisers - $15

Save $10 - order all three for $25 (for another $5 I'll include the 1934-1944 Service Magazines that I recently finished scanning - I'm sorry to say that so far I don't have a complete run of these, but there is a lot of info in these magazines).
