Channel for 49 VENT Window frame?
What window setting channel have you all used for the VENT WINDOW GLASS? I am talking about the channel that goes into the chrome frame which holds the vent glass in. I have K-Gap's #218 channel (same stuff I used for top and sides of the side glass), ...but looking at it I am going to be hard pressed getting that in there....seems way too big. I have all the other stuff I need, this is the only thing holding me up.
Is there something else you guys have used? I emailed K-Gap but they are gone to Sept.
Any thoughts????
Thanks so much.
Dennis

I use the black vinyl electrical tape. Put a few strips on untill the glass goes in tight.0

Dennis... Restoration Specialists... JC Whitney. I got the stuff I use at least 10 years ago from JC whitney... get the narrow channel cloth covered and it will press fit into the frame. I used a piece of wood the thickness of the window glass to set the channel into the frame ... used no glue. I know that good glass shops will have channel and can order any of the different OEM old stock replacement stuff.
Good Luck0 -

Thanks so much.Dennis,
Dennis, Your local automotive glass shop should have the glass setting channel you need. it is a rubberized cloth strip that is folded over the glass. the glass and setting channel is forced into the chrome frame using a mallet.(Carefully !) In the absense of that, several layers of the old type Friction Tape will work. A razor blade removes the excess. Hope this helps,
