Upcoming engine work at the old Forum...
Classiccar has advised me that they are still knee-deep in renovations on this site.
On Tuesday or Wednesday (August 22 or 23) they will be upgrading the engine (question: is this a 212 Splasher Six, a 7X, or a Commodore Eight?) and downtime could be as little as a few hours, or as long as a day, depending upon 10,000 variables. A slight inconvenience, but as Ted told me, "it's been a long time since the last upgrade and we needed to update."
Just think of it as sending your Hornet to the dealer's for its 250,000 mile service. Sure, you'll lose it for a day, but won't it run smoothly when it's back!
So, if you come to this site and get an error message sometime in the next couple days -- take heart, it's a planned outage and if you listen really hard, you will hear Ted and company quietly talking amongst themselves as they adjust the valves, install those new points, and change the Hudsonite.

We thank the cornerstone of clubs on ClassicCar.com for being understanding as we upgrade the forums. We made the lightyear jump to the lastest version of forum software, but there is a small speed problem. Hang in there with us as we bolt on another Strombreg.
Hey, anyone going the HET show at San Simeon? I thought I might drop in there and see what's what!

I've found the problem! It's the STROMBREG carb. Glad I'm not the only one who make these kind of typing mistakesSeriously, a big THANK YOU to ClassicCar.Com for this great site.

Thanks for the Heads Up about the outage! It doesn't hurt as much when you know it is for a good reason. Thanks, is not really enough for the service that Ted and the others at ClassicCar provide us.
That said,
THANKS!0 -

I'm guessing that the possibility of shutting down the site (for repairs) is now past, so I'm unsticking this thread and letting it float away...0
